Pavanas “Bittre Reue” and “Belle qui tiens ma vie”
Pavana is a majestic processional dance of the 16th century. Its name probably derives from the city of Padua (sometimes the name is spelt as padovana) or the name of pea-cock (pavon in Spanish). In pavana couples filed after one another in procession and walked around the hall in a simple sequence of steps: two single and one double step (hesitation walk with the pause and poising feet together after one or three steps respectively). Another type of pavana, quadranpavane, was described in the English manuscripts of the 16-17th centuries:
Single left – single right – double forth
Single right – single left – double back

Паваны «Bittre Reue» и «Belle qui tiens ma vie» Павана — процессионный танец XVI века. Ее название, возможно, связано с городом Падуя (иногда она писалась как padovana) или же с птицей павлином. В паване колонна из танцующих пар обходила несколько раз кругом зала на простой последовательности шагов: два одинарных и один двойной (одинарный шаг — это шаг с последующим приставлением второй ноги, двойной — три шага с такой же приставкой в конце). Известна такая разновидность как квадратная павана (quadran pavane), описанная в английских рукописях XVI–XVII веков: Одинарный влево, одинарный вправо, двойной вперед Одинарный вправо, одинарный влево, двойной назад
