8. The cruiser in a roadstead (farm Dubovsky, Novoanninsky district, Volgograd region)
The cruiser was in a roadstead by the sea,
The sailors took leave of the kindred.
The seaside embosomed the beauty of calm,
And somewhere beyond disappeared.
And in the sea garth, where the nightingale sang
His beautiful song as if playing,
The very young sailor took leave of the girl
And leaved her alone for a long time.
The sailor embraced the firm maiden breast,
Embraced it by hands so tightly.
Two hearts were united together as one,
And even the breathe became easier.
The boatswain was looking at them from the deck,
Was looking at them as if laughing.
The order resounded: Anchors away!
The boatswain’s sharp whistle rang out.
The ship darted forward and moved away fast,
The motor drowned out all the noises.
She wiped away tears by the given head shawl
And sorrowed that loved him a little.
He took off his cap and waved with the hand,
So farewell, dear Marusya.
Tomorrow we’ll take Sevastopol, our home,
And I will come back to you, darling.
